The IMF has agreed a new four-year, $8.2 billion program with Ukraine to support macroeconomic and structural reforms aimed at stabilizing a war-hit economy; the deal, pending IMF board approval, replaces a longer $15+ billion program from March 2023 within a $122 billion international aid package.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it has reached an agreement with Kyiv on a new four-year financial assistance program for Ukraine worth $8.2 billion. The program is intended to support a range of macroeconomic and structural reforms designed to stabilize Ukraine’s economy, which has been severely affected by the ongoing war.

The new agreement—subject to approval by the IMF’s executive board—will replace a prior program of more than $15 billion that was approved in March 2023. That earlier agreement formed part of a broader international assistance package totaling $122 billion.

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said the deal with the IMF demonstrates the resilience of the Ukrainian economy despite the continuing Russian invasion, and she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue implementing reforms and fighting corruption.
