A 63-year-old Russian man was arrested on a Salamina–Perama ferry after allegedly assaulting his 50-year-old wife; she was treated at Nikaia General Hospital.

A serious incident of domestic violence occurred on the afternoon of Monday, November 24, aboard a passenger-vehicle ferry operating the Salamina–Perama route, when a 63-year-old man of Russian nationality allegedly attacked his 50-year-old wife, who is also a Russian national.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard (Λιμενικό Σώμα–Ελληνική Ακτοφυλακή), the man reportedly assaulted his wife during the crossing, inflicting blows to her face, head, and body that caused bruises and hematomas. Upon the ship’s arrival at Perama, Coast Guard personnel immediately arrested the 63-year-old under the provisions of Law 3500/2006 on domestic violence.

The 50-year-old woman was transported by EKAV ambulance to Nikaia General Hospital (Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Νίκαιας), accompanied by her minor children and a Coast Guard officer, where she received necessary medical care and was later discharged.

The preliminary investigation into the case is being handled by the 4th Port Department of Perama (Δ΄ Λιμενικό Τμήμα Περάματος) of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus. (Source: Hellenic Coast Guard)
