An amendment for the installation of infrastructure for the capture storage and transport of carbon dioxide was submitted to Parliament yesterday Wednesday 7 February by the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The amendment was included in the Ministry of Health bill titled Public health actions Regulations for strengthening the National Health System and other provisions.
The proposed regulation establishes the institutional framework for licensing the entire chain of carbon dioxide CO2 management capture transport and storage in Greece in compliance with European Directives 2009 31 EC and 2008 101 EC. CO2 capture storage and transport infrastructure is essential for the decarbonisation of heavy industry and for safeguarding the competitiveness of Greek industrial products in line with similar initiatives already being implemented in many European Union countries the Ministry of Environment and Energy noted.
