On Saturday, 29 November 2025 at 18:00, the presentation of Adonis Georgiadis’s new book, titled Rome: From Rise to Fall, will take place at the Divani Caravel Hotel. The event is open to the public and attendees will be able to obtain the book before its official release on 1 December 2025 (announcement by the School of Ancient Greek “Ελληνική Αγωγή”).
The book is the third and final volume in the series Simple Lessons in History. The series began with Ancient History and continued with Alexander the Great. According to the publisher’s announcement, the volumes are based on history lessons Georgiadis delivered at the Greek Education school and aim “to offer the modern reader a clear, documented and pedagogically accessible narrative of the great historical continuity of the Greek world” (announcement by the School of Ancient Greek “Ελληνική Αγωγή”).
In Rome: From Rise to Fall, Georgiadis traces Rome’s trajectory from a small community on the banks of the Tiber to its peak of power and its gradual decline. The narrative follows the events that shaped the Mediterranean, highlighting the political, social and cultural processes of an empire that left a lasting imprint on European civilization. Special emphasis is placed on:
Political and social developments of late antiquity;
The strengthening of Greek learning and education;
Institutional changes that led to the formation of the Eastern Roman Empire — the world later called Byzantium.
The announcement notes the book presents the developments leading to the birth of the Byzantine world “clearly… without exaggeration or dramatization, but with emphasis on historical continuity” (announcement by the School of Ancient Greek “Ελληνική Αγωγή”).
Adonis Georgiadis posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he dedicated the book to Alexis Tsipras and invited the public to the presentation: “My book ‘Rome’, which I in turn dedicated to Alexis Tsipras, I will present this Saturday at 18:00 at the Caravel hotel. You are all invited” (Adonis Georgiadis, X post, 25 Nov 2025). The tweet also included preorder information and a link for advance orders (preorders: https://t.co/GkyhSmLAwR or phone 210 52 21 314) and credited editor @ManolidouE (Adonis Georgiadis, X post, 25 Nov 2025).
With this new release the trilogy is complete; its stated goal is to meaningfully connect readers with the historical course of Greek culture across time (announcement by the School of Ancient Greek “Ελληνική Αγωγή”).
