ELAS: Ten dead and 610 injured in 530 traffic collisions in Attica in November
Ten people died and 610 were injured (11 seriously, 599 slightly) in 530 traffic collisions that occurred in November in the Attica region, according to the Attica Traffic Directorate.
The Traffic Directorate identified the main causes as driving without caution and attention, violating regulatory signs, and pedestrians breaking traffic rules. The failure of two‑wheeler riders and passengers to wear protective helmets often increased the severity of their injuries.
At the same time, as part of targeted actions carried out by the Attica Traffic Directorate to enforce traffic laws and improve road safety, authorities recorded 35,627 violations, 218 of which were classified as misdemeanors.
Notable recorded violations include: - 1,188 offences for driving under the influence of alcohol, of which 46 were misdemeanors - 2,609 speeding violations - 303 red‑light violations - 603 mobile phone use while driving - 1,391 failures to wear seat belts - 1,814 failures to wear protective helmets - 41 violations for dangerous maneuvers
