Maximos Charakopoulos attends Saint Basil festivities in Mandra and underscores the importance of political stability for Greece.

Maximos Charakopoulos, Secretary General of the New Democracy Parliamentary Group and MP for Larissa, visited the village of Mandra on New Years Eve to join celebrations honoring Saint Basil, the community’s patron. His attendance at the festal Vespers brought together clergy from the Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, the mayor of Larissa, and a large gathering of residents.

Archimandrite Dorotheos highlighted the deep faith of the Cappadocian refugees who founded the village in 1924 after being uprooted from their homeland. Their decision to dedicate the new church to Saint Basil mirrored their connection to the twelve domed church they left behind in Misti, once the largest in the region.

Charakopoulos extended warm New Year wishes to parishioners and later discussed the challenges awaiting Greece in the coming year. He noted that the country’s positive prospects hinge on maintaining political stability.
