Apple iPhone 16 Leads Global Smartphone Sales in Q3 2025
A narrator observing industry trends from a neutral vantage point reported that Apple once again dominated global smartphone sales during Q3 2025, but the spotlight did not fall on the newest iPhone 17 series. Instead, data from Counterpoint Research indicated that the iPhone 16 emerged as the top selling smartphone worldwide between July and September, securing a 4% share of all shipments in that period.
The iPhone 16 achieved notable success in India during the festive season sales and also recorded positive growth in Japan. Counterpoint Research stated that the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and iPhone 16e followed closely behind the standard model, ranking second, third, and fourth globally.

This pattern mirrored last year, when the iPhone 15 lineup secured the leading positions in global sales charts.
Among competing brands, Samsung was the only company to enter the top 10 list. The Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A06 claimed the 5th and 6th spots, followed by the Galaxy A36 in 7th place and the Galaxy A56 in 8th. The Galaxy A16 appeared again in 9th place. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max closed the top 10, despite its limited market availability since late September.
