Greece Exceeds RRF Targets with Strong Health Sector Performance
Greece confirmed that it has surpassed its 2025 Medium Term Programme absorption target for Recovery and Resilience Facility projects, according to Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis. The Ministry reported that total absorption reached 615 million Euro, moving 22 percent beyond the initial objective.
Officials highlighted that 400 million Euro was utilized in 2024 alone, marking a 71 percent rise over that years forecast. Investment momentum continued steadily across a wide range of national health initiatives.
Over the past 2 years more than 1 billion Euro has been allocated to strengthen the public health system. Funding has been directed toward:
Modernizing and upgrading hospital and health centre infrastructure
Procuring innovative medical technology
Conducting preventive screening for major diseases for millions of citizens
Carrying out tens of thousands of free afternoon surgeries to reduce waiting lists
Introducing digital tools such as MyHealthApp and the 1566 service line
Advancing mental health reform
Improving at home patient care
Georgiadis noted that the National Health System has undergone substantial transformation and emphasized that citizens will see higher quality services as the projects reach completion. The Minister stated that the government intends to maintain its pace with continued planning and commitment.
