Tete has completed his move from Panathinaikos to Gremio, marking a formal return to the club where he first developed as a young talent. Gremio confirmed the transfer and emphasised that the Brazilian forward is rejoining the side that shaped his early career after spending 7 years abroad.
The deal between the two clubs was finalised for approximately 6 million euros. His time in Gremio colours had previously been limited to academy football, as he left Brazil at 18 to sign for Shakhtar Donetsk and begin his professional journey in Europe.
Gremio described him as a homegrown product who now returns to Porto Alegre on a contract running until the end of 2029. The club celebrated his achievements abroad and welcomed him back with the message that the good boy is coming home.
His European career featured stops at Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon on loan, Leicester City, and later Galatasaray. Each stint added to his experience before he joined Panathinaikos in July 2024.
The Brazilian midfielder made 75 appearances and scored 13 goals for the Greek side across domestic and international competitions. Panathinaikos acknowledged his departure with a statement thanking him for his contributions and wishing him continued success.
Both clubs expressed appreciation for his efforts and highlighted the significance of his return to the team where his footballing story first began.
