Unsettling Report Filed in Agious Anargyrous
Police received a troubling complaint on the evening of 15 January from a 65 year old woman who reported that her late husbands remains had been taken from the cemetery in Agious Anargyrous.
Removal of the Bones from the Cemetery
According to the woman a 50 year old man visited the cemetery and removed the bones of her spouse from the ossuary without permission.
Ransom Demand Posted Online
The man later posted a video on a social media platform requesting a payment of 1000 euros in exchange for returning the remains.
Refusal to Pay and Legal Action
The woman refused to comply with the demand and proceeded to file a formal complaint against him which prompted him to delete his social media account.
Police Investigation Underway
The case is currently being handled by the Crimes Division of Agious Anargyrous which has initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident.
