AEK is finalizing the transfer of Barnabas Varga from Ferencvaros as the club accelerates its January reinforcement plans. The Hungarian striker is expected to arrive in Greece imminently, with the possibility of landing on 04.01.2026 to complete the signing process. Ferencvaros will collect approximately €4.5 million from the deal, while the 31 year old forward is set to commit to a 3.5 year contract.
Varga will immediately become available to Marko Nikolic, entering the squad with full match readiness. His inclusion in the traveling group for the match against Aris on 11.01.2026 at Vikelidis is under consideration, just as recently signed defender Martin Georgkiev may also be in contention for the same fixture.
The arrival of Varga may prompt a loan move for Frantzdy Pierrot, as several clubs have approached AEK with interest, particularly from Israel. AEK is now shifting its attention to securing a midfielder, having ample time available with the January transfer window only beginning. Another addition could be pursued if an option emerges that aligns with the requirements of coach Marko Nikolic.
