Hungarian reports indicate that AEK has reached an initial understanding to acquire striker Barnabas Varga from Ferencvaros. Media outlets in Budapest suggest that the agreement is effectively in place and that only medical examinations remain outstanding.
Nemzeti Sport highlighted that Varga is extremely close to continuing his career in Greece with AEK. The outlet emphasized that the medical evaluation is the final unresolved formality in the process.
Ferencvaros president Gabor Kubatov also acknowledged the imminent transfer. He remarked that the club intends to move Varga swiftly, noting that the first formal offer has already arrived and that the player will be allowed to proceed.
The 31 year old forward, standing at 1.85m, has recorded 20 goals and 4 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season. His contract with Ferencvaros runs until June 2027, having joined the club in 2023 from Paks for 800000 euros.
