The Greek Ministry authorizes new compensation measures for affected sheep and goat operations across 3 regions.

Ministry Confirms New Financial Support

A supplementary payment of €1,606,885 has been approved by the Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food to support livestock farmers affected by recent disease outbreaks. The decision has been officially posted on Diavgeia, underscoring the state’s intention to compensate those who suffered income losses due to sheep pox and peste des petits ruminants.

Eligibility And Regional Coverage

Farmers from Western Greece, Thessaly and Central Macedonia are listed as eligible beneficiaries, covering a total of 133 farming operations. Authorities have excluded producers who illegally vaccinated their animals or failed to comply with required biosecurity measures as verified by regional documentation.

Payment Process And Verification

Information for each beneficiary including full identification details, tax number, IBAN account and the corresponding financial institution will be sent by the Ministry’s General Directorate of Financial Services to DIAS S A for processing through the Bank of Greece. Any future discovery of false declarations or unmet criteria will trigger repayment of the aid along with EU recovery interest.

Budget Allocation

The entire cost of the supplementary payment will be charged to the Ministry’s regular budget, ensuring the compensation scheme is fully funded within existing financial provisions.
