Repeat Offender Faces Justice Again
A 49 year old man from Volos once again found himself before the courts after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol despite his extensive history of similar offenses.
Late Night Incident at Busy Intersection
The incident occurred on Friday night 16 1 at the junction of Krokiou and Almyrou streets in the Palea district of Volos. Police officers conducting routine checks stopped the drivers vehicle, and he initially refused to take a breath test.
Breath Test Reveals Excessive Alcohol Levels
After some time he agreed to the test which showed a reading of 1.10 grams per liter of breath more than double the legal limit of 0.25 grams.
A Long History of Similar Arrests
According to local reporting this was the eighth time the man had appeared before the judiciary for drunk driving making him a repeated concern for legal authorities.
Court Imposes Prison Term and Financial Penalty
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to an eight month prison term with two months to be served immediately and the remaining months suspended for three years. He was also ordered to pay a 1200 euro fine.
Additional Penalties for the Offender
His appeal was ruled non suspensive and an additional penalty was imposed removing his vehicles registration documents for a period of four months.
