A 24 year old driver caused major damage in Thessaloniki after crashing into 15 parked cars, with her mother defending her actions.

Scene of Widespread Damage

The street in eastern Thessaloniki resembled a bombsite after a 24 year old driver crashed through a long line of parked cars, scattering debris across the road and revealing the force of the collision.

The Chaotic Early Morning Crash

During her erratic drive, the young woman crossed into the opposite traffic lane and hit 15 parked vehicles in succession, also causing damage to a nearby shop. The incident created panic in the neighborhood at around 4.00 in the morning.

Cars Displaced by the Impact

The stationary cars were literally hurled aside by the passing vehicle driven by the 24 year old, who had three other passengers inside at the time of the crash.

Statement from the Driver's Mother

The mother of the driver defended her daughter, saying, "She was not drunk like they say she had drunk an amount equal to 2 beers. It was a bad moment. My daughter and her friends were very scared but fortunately everyone is fine and there were no victims".

Police Response and Legal Proceedings

A police patrol arrived quickly and arrested the young driver who sustained no injuries. She was taken to the prosecutor on charges of dangerous driving. The case has been postponed and will be heard on 28 January.
