An avalanche in the Aragon Pyrenees resulted in the deaths of 3 people and left a woman suffering from hypothermia, according to the Spanish Civil Guard.
A call for help was placed around 13:00 local time by a woman who witnessed the avalanche and noticed 4 skiers in the affected area.
Rescue teams deployed to the slopes near the summit of Tablato, close to the Panticosa spa zone, with at least 1 helicopter assisting the operation.
Authorities later confirmed that 3 bodies were recovered while a woman was pulled from the snow alive but in hypothermic condition.
Jorge Azcon, president of the Aragon region, expressed shock at the tragedy in a message on X and announced plans to visit the site.
