Tragic Minibus Crash Claims Multiple Lives in Eastern Bolivia

A deadly road accident in eastern Bolivia left at least 11 people dead after a minibus driven by a teenager slammed into a tree near the village of Puerto Quijarro in the Santa Cruz region. Authorities confirmed that the young driver, believed to be around 13 to 14 years old, died on impact.

A police investigator reported that the victims included 4 minors and 7 adults. Emergency teams transported 4 injured passengers to a nearby hospital for treatment following the collision.

Initial findings suggest that some passengers were intoxicated at the time of the crash. The circumstances leading to the underage teenager driving the vehicle remain under investigation as officials work to determine how the incident unfolded.

Bolivia has long struggled with high rates of road fatalities, recording approximately 1,400 deaths annually. Many of these incidents are linked to driver negligence and mechanical failures, according to the Interior Ministry.
