A deadly rail disaster unfolded in northern Thailand after a construction crane collapsed onto a passing train, leaving at least 22 people dead and 55 others injured.
Local police reported that the incident struck in Sikhio, a district in Nakhon Ratchasima province, situated about 230 km northeast of Bangkok.
Officials confirmed that the train had been traveling from Bangkok toward Ubon Ratchathani when the crane suddenly toppled onto one of the carriages.
Impact from the falling machinery triggered a violent derailment that caused significant loss of life and widespread injuries among passengers.
Authorities stated that the crane crashed directly onto a single carriage, dragging several others off the tracks as the train was moving through the area.
