In the quiet hours of early Wednesday morning, Maizonos Street in Patras became the setting for a sudden burst of violence. Two 23 year old men, simply making their way through the city, found themselves surrounded by a group of individuals whose intentions quickly turned threatening.

According to the victims, the attackers beat them and one member of the group went as far as brandishing a screwdriver while demanding their belongings. The brief encounter was intense enough to leave both young men shaken and injured.

Once they managed to get to safety, the victims reported the assault to Greek police. During the investigation that followed, they identified three suspects believed to have taken part in the attack. Officers noted that two of the suspects were minors.

The attackers had reportedly stolen a wallet containing money and important documents before fleeing the scene.

Authorities proceeded to form a case file against the three individuals for joint robbery, causing bodily harm, and violating weapons laws. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to piece together exactly what unfolded on that dark stretch of Maizonos Street.
