A 27 year old woman died at the General Hospital of Chania shortly before New Year’s after being admitted with a high fever. Hospital officials confirmed that she was treated in the Pathology Clinic, where doctors carried out all required examinations and closely monitored her condition.
Medical staff later identified a serious cardiac complication that prompted her transfer to the Cardiology Clinic for more specialized care. Her clinical picture initially showed signs of improvement, indicating a positive response to treatment.
Her health subsequently deteriorated, leading to her death despite efforts to stabilize her condition. Hospital administration and attending physicians have formally requested an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.
