Arrests Follow Shooting Incident Outside Eatery
Police have arrested a 70 year old man and a 42 year old woman in connection with a violent shooting incident that occurred outside a dining establishment in Agios Dimitrios.
Details of Those Involved
The 70 year old is considered the primary perpetrator, while the 42 year old is accused of instigating the attack. Authorities are also searching for a 39 year old man for whom an arrest warrant has been issued. Charges include instigation to commit homicide, attempted homicide and multiple violations of weapons and explosives laws.
How the Arrests Took Place
The arrests occurred during police operations early Tuesday and Thursday with assistance from EKAM officers. The woman was apprehended under the flagrante delicto process, while the elderly suspect was detained based on an arrest warrant.
Reconstruction of the Incident
A thorough investigation using video footage allowed authorities to reconstruct the events. According to police sources, the 42 year old had initially argued with the shop owner before leaving temporarily. She later returned with the 39 year old, leading to another heated confrontation during which she allegedly urged him to fire his weapon, resulting in the shop owner being wounded in the thigh.
Exchange of Gunfire
Chaos ensued when the 70 year old father of the shop owner arrived armed, prompting an exchange of gunfire that left him injured in the leg.
Flight and Evidence Seized
The 39 year old fled the scene by car while the woman escaped on foot. During searches of various residences, police confiscated 25.695 euros, 10.500 dollars, an air pistol, ammunition, bullets, a knife, a firecracker, a smoke device, 10 sprays, a vehicle and a mobile phone.
Legal Follow Up
The arrested individuals were brought before the prosecutor, while the search continues for the 39 year old believed to have fired the shots.
