Lifelong Sentence for Woman Convicted of Killing Partner
A 35 year old woman received a lifelong prison sentence from the Mixed Jury Court of Edessa after being found guilty of killing her 58 year old partner and burying his body in the yard of their home in Leptokarya Pieria.
Crime Hidden for Months
The crime was committed in September 2024 but remained undisclosed for 5 months until the woman pointed authorities to the burial site. During that period she denied involvement and had even reported him missing, but contradictions in a later testimony exposed the truth.
Defendant Claims No Intent to Kill
In her court testimony she argued she had no intent to kill, saying everything happened during an argument. Her defense claimed the death resulted from bodily harm due to negligence and requested reduced responsibility because of long term substance use.
Court Rejects Defense Arguments
The judges dismissed her claims and accepted the prosecutors recommendation, ruling her guilty of intentional homicide in a calm mental state without any mitigating factors. Following the verdict the 35 year old returned to prison.
