A twenty five year old doctor from Lasithi is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital of Heraklion after developing symptoms consistent with meningitis. She was transferred due to the lack of available ICU beds at the Agios Nikolaos Hospital.
Medical Condition and Monitoring
According to the deputy director of the Heraklion hospital, Stelios Kteniakadakis, her condition is considered serious but stable. Medical staff are closely monitoring her progress as examinations continue.

Initial Symptoms and Diagnosis
The president of the Lasithi hospital doctors, Kostas Karatarakis, stated that the young doctor arrived at the emergency department with high fever and severe headache. Examinations indicated meningitis and due to the absence of free ICU beds she was transferred to the Heraklion hospital.
Background and Preventive Measures
The doctor, who is specializing in pathology, had no prior health issues before the symptoms appeared. Preventive treatment was immediately administered to everyone who had been in contact with her.
