Maria Karystianou Speaks Out on New Party Plans and Ongoing Tensions
Standing outside the Larissa Courthouse during the Tempi trial, Maria Karystianou shared new remarks about the political party she intends to establish. Highlighting her frustration with the slow pace of the proceedings, she stressed that the trial has not yet begun in substance and insisted that the missing videos could ultimately clarify what happened.
Continuing her comments, she explained that despite her disappointment, families remain determined to attend every hearing with whatever strength they have left. Emphasizing her view of recent criticisms, she stated that attempts to target and divide her will not succeed.
Addressing the tensions among families, she noted that differences in opinion are natural but argued that exploiting those differences maliciously is unacceptable. Adding further context, she described her planned party as a separate path that she believes could lead to justice for the victims, even if others disagree.
Reacting strongly to suggestions that her party would be declared on 28 February, she dismissed the idea as unreasonable and inaccurate. Responding to questions about her role in the Tempi Victims Association, she affirmed her willingness to step down once formally asked, pointing out that her term ends in March regardless.
Concluding her remarks, she accused both the government and much of the opposition of working as a single system against her, arguing that she is being targeted first so that she can later be discredited.
