More Than €5 Billion in Obligations Due by 31 December 2025
Greek taxpayers are entering the final stretch of the year with outstanding tax obligations exceeding €5 billion. The end of 2025 brings a series of cumulative payments that must be settled by 31 December to avoid immediate penalties.
Key Payments Required Before Year End
The list of obligations includes the final ENFIA property tax installment for 2025 the sixth installment of income tax for both individuals and businesses the 2026 road tax fees VAT payments for businesses and professionals and monthly installments from ongoing payment arrangements.
ENFIA and Income Tax Installments
The 10th and final ENFIA installment amounts to roughly €185 million and must be paid on time to prevent interest charges.
The sixth income tax installment is also due with individuals owing a total of €620 million and legal entities responsible for more than €935 million.
Road Taxes for 2026 and Penalties
Road tax fees for 2026 total approximately €1.25 billion. Timely payment by 31 December is essential as fines for late payment begin automatically from 1 January 2026.
Paid by 31 January 2026 results in a 25% fine
Paid in February results in a 50% fine
From 1 March 2026 onwards the fine reaches 100% doubling the owed amount
These penalties apply equally in cases of partial or full non payment.
Installments from Active Arrangements
Taxpayers must also complete any monthly installments from active settlement arrangements before year end. Failure to pay on time may lead to increased charges and in some cases the cancellation of the arrangement itself.
