Panathinaikos has stepped up its transfer activity as the club continues to overhaul key areas of its squad, targeting a left winger, a central midfielder in the number 8 role, a left back and a goalkeeper, following the additions of Andreas Tetteh and Sotiris Kontouris.
Attention has increasingly shifted toward Santino Andino of Godoy Cruz, an Argentine winger who also drew interest from Olympiacos during the previous summer transfer window.
Spanish outlet AS highlighted the situation on 30 12, reporting that Panathinaikos is among the teams pursuing the 20 year old international of Argentina’s U20 squad.
Fresh information from Argentina indicates that substantial discussions have already taken place between Panathinaikos, Godoy Cruz and the player’s representatives, confirming the seriousness of the negotiations.
Andino, who holds Italian citizenship and delivered 6 goals and 3 assists across 30 appearances last season, recently joined Roc Nation’s Brazil based division, an agency representing notable players such as Vinicius Junior and Endrick.
His new representatives paused negotiations between Godoy Cruz and River Plate after the latter tabled a 5 million dollar bid for 80 percent of his rights, aiming to guide the winger toward an early move to Europe.
Talks have already been held with Como, the team led by Cesc Fabregas, while exploratory discussions took place with Olympiacos as well. Advanced communication with Panathinaikos has positioned the Greek club as one of the frontrunners for securing one of Argentina’s most promising young talents.
