A somber mood has settled over Chania after a ninety year old resident was discovered dead on Sunday morning in the stairwell of his home. Family members and neighbors had been searching for him for several hours before he was finally located.
Emergency medical personnel from EKAB arrived quickly but could only confirm that the man had already passed away. Local authorities have not yet provided further details regarding the circumstances of his death.
The incident follows another sudden loss in the region just one day earlier. An eighty year old man reportedly became unwell and was transported urgently to the hospital, where he sadly died despite medical efforts.
