Police Arrest Suspect After Attempted Assault on 13 Year Old in Petroupoli

A 13 year old girl in Petroupoli became the target of an attempted rape and robbery at a bus stop on Meteoron Street. Authorities reported that a 31 year old Egyptian man allegedly threw the minor to the ground with the intention of committing sexual acts. A passerby who witnessed the scene shouted for help and startled the attacker. The assailant fled the location after taking the girl's phone. DIAS police officers arrived swiftly and located the suspect nearby. Officers proceeded to arrest the man shortly after the incident. The detainee was taken to the local Security Department where charges of attempted rape and robbery of a minor were formally filed.
