A domestic violence incident in Lamia results in a 2 year prison sentence for a 53 year old man who attacked his elderly father.

A serious domestic violence case in Lamia led to the conviction of a 53 year old man after authorities intervened early on Friday 09 10 2026.

Neighbors contacted police when they heard alarming disturbances coming from a home in the northern part of the city that morning.

Responding officers discovered an 80 year old man naked, disoriented and bearing visible injuries.

The elderly victim informed police that his son had assaulted him, prompting the dispatch of an ambulance that transported him to the hospital for medical treatment.

The 53 year old appeared before the Lamia Single Member Misdemeanor Court facing charges of causing simple bodily harm to a person unable to resist due to age.

During his testimony, the defendant argued that his father suffers from psychological difficulties and had allegedly injured himself while wandering outside.

He insisted that he had never used violence against him and claimed the elderly man required medical and psychological support.

The court ultimately rejected his claims and found him guilty after reviewing the case.

A sentence of 2 years in prison was imposed, with 6 months to be served behind bars and the remainder suspended.

No suspension was granted pending appeal, resulting in the immediate transfer of the 53 year old to a detention facility.
