Police arrested a heavily intoxicated driver who struck several parked cars during a reckless late night route through Kifisia.

Authorities in Kifisia responded late Friday night after a 51 year old driver caused extensive damage while severely intoxicated. The man was traveling from Metamorfosi toward Varympompi around 22:30 when his erratic behavior first drew attention.

The vehicle initially slammed into a tree on Argous Street, creating the first sign of trouble before continuing onward. Dangerous swerving then led the driver to strike 2 parked cars as he moved through the neighborhood.

The situation escalated further as the car collided with 3 additional parked vehicles while the driver refused to stop. More damage followed when he reached Potamou Street, where he turned onto Nafpliou Street and crashed into 2 more cars before the vehicle finally came to a halt.

Police officers tracked the course of the car and immediately conducted a breathalyzer test once the driver was stopped. Results showed a reading of 1.86 mg l, nearly 7 times the legal limit of 0.25 mg l.

Legal consequences now await the driver since the measurement far exceeded the 0.60 mg l threshold that triggers immediate arrest procedures.
