An urgent investigation is underway after a 45 year old woman was injured when part of a restaurant ceiling fell inside a Thessaloniki shopping mall.

A fast track preliminary investigation has been initiated following the injury of a 45 year old woman inside a Thessaloniki shopping mall when part of a restaurant ceiling collapsed.

Prosecutorial guidance has directed authorities to examine potential offenses related to construction rule violations and the creation of common danger.

The Police Department of Pylea has been assigned to lead the inquiry and will also inspect all restaurants operating within the mall.

A case file is currently being prepared, and all findings from the ongoing preliminary investigation are expected to be included in it.

The ceiling collapse occurred last Saturday afternoon at a food court restaurant inside the shopping complex, resulting in the injury of the woman.

An EKAB ambulance transported her to Papageorgiou Hospital, where she remains under medical care.
