Forensic findings indicate that no criminal activity is linked to the death of a 45 year old fire officer whose body was discovered on Mount Beles. Autopsy results conducted in Thessaloniki suggest he died within the first 24 hours after being reported missing.
Investigators state that the precise mechanism of death cannot yet be clearly established. Evidence pointing to a recent ischaemic episode has been documented alongside injuries to his hands caused by a sharp object even though no such item was recovered from the remote site.
The family through their legal representative has appealed to media outlets to stop circulating unfounded claims and unverified information about the case. Their statement underscores the need to respect the memory of a man who can no longer respond to speculation.
The timeline of events began two days before Christmas when the firefighter was reported missing by his wife at the Poroi Police Department in Serres. Search teams from the Fire Service and volunteers immediately mobilised to locate him.
His body was eventually found on Saturday at a high altitude in a difficult section of Mount Beles with his vehicle discovered nearby. The area known for its challenging terrain added complexity to the search effort.
