Police in Northern Greece have resolved a high value robbery at a jewelry store inside a hotel complex in Halkidiki that occurred on 2 September 2025. Investigators identified two Serbian nationals aged 48 and 46 and subsequently issued European Arrest Warrants. Authorities later confirmed that the suspects were apprehended in Bulgaria and Croatia.
Officials report that the two men are linked to the international criminal network known as the Pink Panthers. The group is widely associated with meticulously planned jewel thefts across Europe. Evidence gathered by Greek police departments in cooperation with European counterparts and EUROPOL showed that four members of the network operated in Greece between 20 August and 2 September 2025 to prepare the robbery.
Research indicated that the perpetrators entered Greece separately using forged travel documents. They rented vehicles and affixed stolen license plates to them in an effort to elude detection. Surveillance of the hotel complex was conducted repeatedly by the group as part of their planning. Movement to and from the target site involved the use of both cars and electric scooters.
During the robbery itself, the 48 year old suspect along with an unidentified accomplice threatened two employees with a weapon and seized luxury watches and valuables worth approximately €580000. The 46 year old suspect together with an unidentified woman provided support by posing as visitors and monitoring the surrounding area. Records show that the 48 year old has a prior history in Switzerland involving home burglaries. Ongoing inquiries are assessing whether the suspects are connected to similar heists in other European countries during 2024 and 2025.
Extradition proceedings are now pending as judicial authorities consider returning the suspects to Greece.
