A deadly collision between a bus and a truck in Brazil left at least 11 people dead and 7 others injured in what authorities described as an exceptionally severe crash. The incident unfolded on a federal highway in Rio Grande do Sul at approximately 11:30 a.m. local time.
Emergency teams arrived to find that part of the trucks sand cargo had been hurled into the bus, complicating rescue operations. The sand buried several victims, making access to the interior of the vehicle extremely difficult.
Investigators are now working to determine the circumstances that led to the head on crash. Local officials stated that both vehicles sustained extensive damage, while the sand spill created hazardous conditions for first responders.
