A magistrate now identifies a 22 year old as the main perpetrator in the Foinikounda double murder despite his earlier claim of being an accomplice.

A 22 year old man identified as X T spent nearly 4 hours at the Kalamata courthouse on 10 January as the investigation into the Foinikounda double murder took another turn.

Authorities had first encountered him in October when he voluntarily appeared and claimed he was only an accomplice, accepting moral instigation in the killings.

The investigating magistrate has now attributed to him the role of the principal perpetrator, stating he allegedly entered the crime scene on the night of the incident even though he denied that version in his initial testimony.

His newly appointed attorneys, Nikolaos Aletras and Alexandros Margelis, requested a 1 week extension to review the case file in full.

The magistrate granted additional time but set a strict deadline, calling him to return on Wednesday 14 January at 10 00.

Information from legal sources indicates that X T wants to provide further details regarding the case while continuing to insist he did not fire the weapon.

A second 22 year old suspect, I M, also appeared before the magistrate after spending months in pretrial detention.

Investigators had originally considered him the primary perpetrator, but the current assessment now views him as an accomplice.

The Greek British national was asked to respond to key questions that remain unresolved, though he too received time to testify on 14 January.

Updates from the inquiry suggest his legal status has formally shifted to that of an accomplice, reversing the initial accusation that cast him as the main perpetrator.
