Athens introduces traffic restrictions around Syntagma and Pedion tou Areos for New Years Eve events.

Traffic regulations will be enforced by the Traffic Police from 20:00 on Wednesday 31 12 in the areas surrounding Syntagma and Pedion tou Areos due to New Years Eve events.

Authorities plan to fully or partially close several central roads during the celebrations.

Roads Affected

  • Vasilissis Sofias Avenue between Sekeri and Panepistimiou

  • Alexandras Avenue between Moustoxidi and Patission including perpendicular streets up to the first parallel toward Patission

  • Amalias Avenue along its entire length

  • Syngrou Avenue between Amalias and Areopagitou

  • Mavrommateon along its entire length

  • The entire Syntagma Square area

  • Stadiou Street between Amerikis and Vasileos Georgiou A including perpendicular streets up to the first parallel

  • Filellinon Street along its entire length including perpendicular streets up to the first parallel

Drivers are advised by the Traffic Police to avoid these routes during the specified hours and follow all signage and instructions issued by traffic officers.
