Passing of an Icon
Renowned Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has passed away at age 93, according to reports from La Repubblica and other Italian media outlets.

The news was confirmed by the Valentino Garavani Foundation along with Giancarlo Giammetti, his long time partner and close collaborator.
Public Farewell
His body will lie in state at PM23 in Piazza Mignanelli 23 in Rome on Wednesday and Thursday. The funeral is scheduled for Friday at 11:00 at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri in Rome.
Early Life and Education
Valentino Garavani was born in Voghera in 1932 and took his first steps in the fashion world in Paris, training in the ateliers of Jean Desses and Guy Laroche.
Return to Italy
Upon returning to Italy, he opened his first couture workshop in Rome on Via Condotti.
Career Breakthrough
His major career milestone came in 1962 with his presentation at Palazzo Pitti.
Rise to Global Fame
The fashion house Valentino, which he co founded with Giancarlo Giammetti, achieved rapid international acclaim, marked by prestigious collaborations and the establishment of Valentino as one of the most iconic haute couture designers beloved by Hollywood stars.
