A 9 year old boy is discharged from Xanthi Hospital after losing a finger in a New Year Eve firework accident.

A 9 year old boy has been discharged from Xanthi Hospital on Saturday after suffering a serious firework injury in the Anaxades settlement of Rhodope on New Year Eve.

The child lost the index finger on his left hand when the firework exploded, and doctors were able to preserve his eye despite the severity of the incident.

Police in Iasmos are continuing their investigation to determine what caused the accident and how the firecracker ended up in the child possession.
