Drug Trafficking Operation Uncovered Inside Thessaloniki Mini Market
Police in Thessaloniki arrested three individuals after uncovering a drug trafficking scheme operating within a mini market in the Analipsi district. Authorities detained a 35 year old man along with two female employees aged 39 and 38, while also identifying the 58 year old owner of the store and her 67 year old husband.
Investigators initiated the case following surveillance conducted by the Immediate Narcotics Response Unit of the Thessaloniki Police Directorate. Officers moved in on Wednesday midday when three customers were spotted exiting the shop in possession of small quantities of synthetic cannabis.
Findings from the investigation showed that the customers had purchased the narcotics inside the establishment. They handed money to the two employees before the 35 year old suspect delivered the substances.
A search of the mini market resulted in the seizure of 2,640 euros and 20 packages of synthetic cannabis weighing 40.67 grams. Additional inquiries led officers to a nearby apartment used as a storage site, where they located 191 more packages weighing 472.80 grams.
Further evidence emerged when police confiscated a motorcycle employed by the 35 year old for transportation of the drugs. Later in the afternoon, authorities searched the home of the identified couple in Epanomi, discovering two military type knives, a scope, a pistol magazine, 17 bullets and a shotgun.
Charges filed against all involved include participation in a criminal organization, drug trafficking and weapons violations. The three customers who had purchased the illegal substances were also arrested.
