The pediatric intensive care unit of PaGNI in Heraklion continues to treat an 18 month old baby who arrived with its mother by sea at Kaloi Limenes on the evening of Friday 26.12.2025. Medical teams report that the infant is now on its third day of hospitalization.
Doctors initially found the baby suffering from hypothermia, starvation and dehydration, prompting urgent efforts to stabilize its electrolyte levels. Hospital sources indicate that its condition has shown encouraging signs of improvement.
The childs mother is also receiving care at PaGNI in the pathology clinic. Authorities note that both were on a vessel carrying 27 other individuals identified as undocumented migrants attempting to reach Europe through Greece.
The Greek Coast Guard discovered the boat and transported everyone safely to the port at Kaloi Limenes. Prior to transfer to the ICU, the infant was first taken to the Health Center of Moires for preliminary assessmen
