Elderly Resident Defrauded of 10000 Euros in Mytilene

Police in Mytilene arrested two individuals accused of deceiving an elderly woman out of 10000 euros. Investigators from the Mytilene Crimes Division traced the scheme to a phone call made to the victim about one week earlier.

Authorities say the suspects contacted the woman while pretending to be a doctor and her daughter. Officers report that the callers claimed urgent surgery was required for the daughter, persuading the woman to hand over the money.

A 32 year old foreign woman then arrived at the victims home to collect the cash. Detectives later identified her and linked her to the operation.

A case file has been prepared against the 32 year old for fraud. The Mytilene Police Crimes Division continues to handle the investigation.
