Teen Hospitalized After Reporting Cocaine Use with Father
A 14 year old boy was taken to Ioannina Hospital by his mother after she found him in deteriorating condition. Medical staff were informed that the teenager had confessed to using cocaine alongside his father. Tests carried out by doctors confirmed the presence of the drug in the minor's system.
Police officers moved quickly to locate and arrest the 36 year old father on 31 December on charges of endangering a minor and violating drug laws. Another adult who was present at the time is also implicated in the case. Evidence gathered during the investigation indicates that the father and another man had used cocaine inside a car while the minor was with them. Authorities believe the adults encouraged the teenager to try the substance.
Officials stated that inquiries are still ongoing as they work to establish the full circumstances of the incident. The father is scheduled to appear before the Prosecutor of the Ioannina Court of First Instance.
Police Statement on the Case
Law enforcement sources confirmed that officers detained a local man on the night of 1 January 2026 in connection with violations of drug legislation and the endangerment of a minor. A case file has also been prepared for an additional individual allegedly involved in the events under investigation.
Authorities reported that they were notified earlier that day of a minor arriving at the hospital, where it was determined that cocaine use had occurred. Subsequent findings suggest the incident took place the previous evening, when the father, his son and another man were inside a vehicle. Investigators allege that the father used cocaine and then provided the same substance to his son.
The suspect is expected to be brought before the Prosecutor of the Ioannina Court of First Instance as the case proceeds.
