The Ministry of Education directs 4.1 million euros to modernize 12 student dormitories across Greece

The Ministry of Education in Greece is directing 4.1 million euros toward a nationwide upgrade of 12 student dormitories, marking a renewed investment in student welfare.

Government officials highlighted that 4,147,736.3 euros will support modernization efforts for facilities managed or owned by INEDIVIM.

Minister Sofia Zacharaki underscored the initiative as a reflection of strong funding priorities transparency and a commitment to dignified living standards for students.

Authorities confirmed that the project includes comprehensive equipment upgrades such as new furniture appliances shared kitchen facilities and enhanced technological tools.

Funding totaling 2,758,647.38 euros from the National Development Programme will be allocated to improve dormitories across Athens Thessaloniki Crete Patras Ioannina Volos and other regions.

Residents of these facilities will receive upgraded beds mattresses bedding towels bookshelves wardrobes desks office chairs shading systems fans televisions air conditioners refrigerators kitchens washing machines dryers and hoods along with new computer equipment including laptops printers and hard drives.

Officials stated that the additions aim to significantly elevate the quality of services available to students.

Additional resources amounting to 779,118.21 euros will be invested in restoring and upgrading electromechanical systems in the Thessaloniki dormitory complexes A B C and D.

Renovation plans for Thessaloniki include fire safety improvements in buildings C and D and replacement of electrical systems in buildings A B and C.

Further investment of 609,970.71 euros will support the overhaul of cooling and heating systems at the University of Crete dormitories in Rethymno.

Scheduled upgrades in Rethymno include new heat pumps replacement of outdated units and installation of modern systems to ensure reliable heating and cooling throughout the buildings.

Government representatives emphasized that these investments reflect a long term strategy to enhance public university infrastructure and promote improved living conditions for students nationwide.
