Heraklion police detained a woman accused of setting multiple fires that caused property damage.

A 58 year old woman was taken into custody in Heraklion after authorities reported that she set fire to her own apartment on Sunday night.

Her residence in the Estavromenos area briefly ignited, yet the blaze was extinguished internally without the need for outside assistance.

Police noted that she left the apartment afterward and allegedly attempted to spark a second fire, which resulted in damage to 2 parked vehicles.

Officers from the A Police Department of Heraklion are handling the preliminary investigation.

The arrest was executed by personnel from the Heraklion Directorate for Crime Prosecution and Investigation.
