New findings raise suspicions of a second assault as the family of a 17 year old pushes for full clarity in the Serres case.

Fresh evidence has intensified scrutiny over the death of a 17 year old boy in Serres, as investigators now consider the possibility that he was assaulted again shortly before dying in the basement of his apartment building. The new development has deepened the anguish of his family, who fear that more than one individual may have been involved in the fatal attack.

Relatives insist that responsibility cannot rest solely with the 15 year old initially linked to the case, as they believe others may have participated in the violence. The family also suspects that the teenager may have been beaten inside their home, a possibility they describe as unbearable but necessary to confront in their search for the truth.

The victim’s sister spoke publicly for the first time, giving an exclusive account in which she pleaded for anyone with knowledge of the events to step forward. Her voice broke as she described the depth of her family’s grief and their mounting frustration over unanswered questions.

She explained that they are overwhelmed by conflicting information circulating daily and urged witnesses to provide even the smallest detail. Her criticism extended to authorities as she expressed sorrow that her younger brother, at just 17, received no protection, while the person she believes responsible was allowed to move freely.

Her appeal underscored a growing sense of injustice, as she stressed that the state has a duty to safeguard every citizen and failed in her brother’s case. Her words painted a picture of a family struggling to understand how such a tragedy could occur without intervention.

Former police union president Giorgos Kalliakmanis added further weight to the concerns by stating that the injuries were so severe they may not have been caused solely by punches. He noted that fractures and cuts on the boy’s face suggested the possible use of an object such as brass knuckles, although no such item has been recovered.

He detailed that the teenager had been seen earlier with 3 friends, and CCTV footage showed him returning to the building before entering the courtyard alone. He emphasized that no one apart from several delivery workers was captured following him inside, raising more questions about what happened next.
