A fatal overturning of a small amateur fishing boat unfolded at the Strymonas River delta under strong southerly winds. Authorities recovered one man dead from the shallow waters where the boat capsized at a depth of about 1.5 meters. Rescuers located the second man alive though he showed signs of hypothermia and remained in a state of shock. Broadcasters reported that both individuals involved were Bulgarian as emergency teams widened the search. A helicopter joined the operation to rule out the possibility that a third person might have been on board.
