Mother Released Under Restrictions in Crete Abuse Case
A 42 year old woman from a village in Messara, Crete, was released under restrictive conditions after facing serious accusations connected to the alleged abuse of her 15 year old daughter and her 24 year old daughter who lives with moderate intellectual disability.
Authorities imposed a ban on leaving the country, required her to appear regularly at a police station, and prohibited her from approaching her minor children.
Her defense lawyer, Giannis Chatzidakis, described the ruling as fair and argued that no substantial evidence linked her to abusive conduct.
Another defense attorney, Lefteris Kartsonas, said the woman rejected all allegations during her testimony and maintained that nothing in the case file supported suspicions of guilt.
Kartsonas added that no public official has provided testimony containing claims that could harm the accused parents, stressing that the defense intends to request psychiatric evaluations for every member of the family.
The 54 year old father, who additionally faces charges including repeated rape of a minor and sexual acts with a minor, received an extension and is scheduled to testify next Monday at 11:00 a.m.
