Vandalism Detected in Rethymno Municipal Garden
Authorities in Rethymno are investigating a case of vandalism after employees from the Department of Greenery and Urban Environment discovered that ornamental bamboo plants had been cut and removed from the Municipal Garden.
Investigators determined that the incident occurred sometime between 7 p m on Monday December 29 2025 when the garden closed and the security staff departed, and 7 a m on Tuesday December 30 2025 shortly before reopening.
Officials quickly filed a complaint against an unknown perpetrator for property damage and theft following the identification of the missing plan.
