Authorities arrested two foreign nationals aged 32 and 33 in Omonia on Wednesday after DIAS police officers intercepted their suspicious vehicle during a routine patrol. Officers initiated a search once the car was stopped, uncovering 14,455 euros hidden inside the cabin. Further inspection of the trunk revealed a suitcase filled with more than 45 kilograms of cannabis.
Investigators later transferred the suspects to the Athens Subdirectorate for Narcotics Enforcement, where additional inquiries exposed the use of a short term rental apartment in Omonia and a recording studio in Neos Kosmos as storage points for illegal substances. Searches conducted at these locations yielded extensive quantities of narcotics and related equipment.
Police seized a total of 18 nylon packages containing 99 kilograms and 796 grams of cannabis, adding to the toll of confiscated drugs. Officers also found 3 sealing machines along with numerous empty nylon bags believed to be intended for future packaging. Cash in the amount of 1,400 euros and 1,130 Turkish lira was also recovered during the operation.
Authorities additionally located a precision scale and a grinder, both considered essential tools for drug processing. Investigators reported the discovery of multiple fake identity cards and passports, material that suggested broader criminal activity beyond narcotics trafficking. Prosecutors subsequently received the case file, formally initiating judicial proceedings against the two suspects.
