Police detained three men who carried out high speed stunts on key Athens roads after officers tracked their meetup through social media.

Arrests Follow Late Night Motorcycle Stunts in Athens

Police in Athens apprehended three young men after spotting them speeding and performing wheelies on Athinon Avenue, Perifereiaki Aigaleo and the Kifisos Avenue service road. Officers discovered that two of the riders lacked the proper motorcycle licences.

Information analysis teams identified an Instagram account that had advertised a meetup for motorcyclists, allowing officers to anticipate the gathering location.

Monitoring Reveals High Risk Riding

Officers arriving at the designated point around 22:05 on January 10 located a group of 10 riders and maintained discreet surveillance. Authorities soon observed a 32 year old and two 26 year olds repeatedly accelerating, carrying out wheelies and executing hazardous maneuvers intended to impress onlookers.

Checks showed that the 32 year old did not possess a licence and that one of the 26 year olds lacked authorisation to ride a motorcycle. Investigators also found that the licence plates on the motorcycles had been folded to obscure identification.

Social Media Activity Exposed Behaviors

Police reported that the 32 year old frequently uploaded videos and photos of dangerous riding on his social media accounts, encouraging others to attempt similar stunts.

Prosecutor Receives Case After Arrests

All three riders were detained on charges linked to dangerous driving and repeated offences, and one additionally faced accusations of inciting others to commit crimes. The men were taken before the Athens Misdemeanors Prosecutor for further legal processing.

The seized motorcycles were transported to the West Attica Traffic Department, where they remain held. Authorities also issued the required administrative violations linked to the incident.
